Requirements

• Age: Umpires MUST be at least 12 years of age as of April 1 to umpire for Pioneer.
• Pioneer Registration: Please register and agree to the Waiver of Liability.
• Umpire Training Clinic: Our next clinic is scheduled for March 21, 2026, 11am at Clermont Park and is mandatory for all new umpires or umpires graduating to new divisions.
• Certification: All umpires must be NUA certified. If you haven’t yet, click here to complete the NUA certification program.

Note: The NUA certification program has a required fee, albeit substantially lower for umpires 18 and under.

Game Schedule & Assignment Process

• Schedule: Pioneer’s Spring Seasons begin in early April and continuing through mid-June. Our Fall seasons run from early September through November.  House games occur on Saturdays from 9am-3pm and occasional weeknights after 5pm. Legends (Travel) games are Sundays from 9am-6pm.
• Assignments: Each week the game schedule will be published via email. Assignments are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Payment Structure

* House games are paid every three weeks. Legends games are paid at the plate by the teams.

Required Uniform & Equipment

• Hat: Dark blue or black (No logo)
• Shirt: Light or dark blue umpire polo
• Slacks: Gray slacks
• Shoes: Black shoes
• All Umpires: Clicker, plate brush, and belt bag.
• Plate Umpires: Mask, chest protector, and shin guards.
